Why lipids, including cholesterol, are vital!
You have 37 trillion cells in your body. Each cell membrane is made of a phospholipid membrane. "Lipid" is the biological term for fat - including cholesterol. Every cell is 1. born, 2. lives, and 3. dies. Thus, you must CONSTANTLY be rebuilding cells (to rebuild tissue."
Think about the burn after a strenuous workout. They are "weak" cells dying, to be replaced (rebuilt) with better ones. Without adequate fats in your diet (lipids) you cannot rebuild / repair cells. This deterioration process is called CHRONIC DISEASE!
What is worse for your health, excesses or deficiencies?
Deficiencies (Undernutrition): These often have more acute, severe, and immediate life-threatening effects, especially in vulnerable groups. Global scale: Micronutrient deficiencies (e.g., iron, vitamin A, iodine, zinc, calcium) affect billions. Over half the world's population has an inadequate intake of key micronutrients.
Severe outcomes: Stunting, wasting, blindness (vitamin A), anemia (iron), goiter (iodine), weakened immunity, cognitive impairment, and increased child mortality. Nearly half of deaths in children under 5 are linked to undernutrition.
The "Total Cholesterol (TC)" equation is a fraud.

The short answer is that the TC equation includes HDL. High HDL levels are associated with good health and positive outcomes. However, if HDL is high, TC is also high, and most doctors base treatment decisions on TC without considering your HDL.
